Jakarta, August 21, 2025 — Greenwise, a leading green boutique consulting firm in Indonesia, together with Elmoz, an EPC contractor specializing in biogas plants, and Monsoon, a global partner with extensive expertise in carbon project development, have officially formed a strategic collaboration to accelerate the development of carbon-focused biogas projects in Indonesia.
Strategic Partnership between Greenwise, Elmoz, and Monsoon
This three-party collaboration delivers an end-to-end solution: from the construction of biogas infrastructure, carbon registration and verification, to unlocking access to international markets through alignment with global standards such as Verra’s Verified Carbon Standards (VCS) and Indonesia’s National Registry System (SRN-PPI).
With over nine years of experience, Elmoz has successfully built more than 30 biogas plants in Indonesia. Monsoon Carbon, who already works with more than 100 exclusive carbon projects and has connections with global buyers, is now preparing a pipeline of over 20 new projects in Indonesia, with a target of adding five to six more until the end of this year. Meanwhile, Greenwise contributes its local expertise in carbon project management and registration.
Biogas Project Pipeline and Carbon Market Growth Target
“This partnership marks a significant milestone in the journey toward green energy. Together with Elmoz and Monsoon, Greenwise is committed to delivering biogas projects that not only reduce emissions but also create new business opportunities through the global carbon market,” said Lenny Hidayat, Partner of Greenwise Consulting.
The projects will be concentrated in Sumatra and Kalimantan, harnessing the potential of palm oil mill effluent to generate biogas that can be converted into electricity and, bio-CNG, creating its eligibility to generate carbon credits.
Investment Opportunities and Potential Returns in Carbon Credits
Beyond environmental benefits such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions, this collaboration also creates new economic opportunities, including green gas certification for transportation and the utilization of bio-CNG by multinational companies, which has already expressed strong interest in green energy solutions.
Each biogas project has the potential to generate tens of thousands of tons of CO₂e, convertible into carbon credits. At current voluntary carbon market prices, investors can realize hundreds of thousands of dollars in annual value per project, making this collaboration not only environmentally sustainable but also economically competitive.
Environmental Impact and Clean Energy for the Palm Oil Industry
The biogas projects developed through this partnership leverage palm oil mill effluent to reduce methane emissions while also providing a clean energy source for mill operations and local power grids.
