This publication marks an important milestone in our ongoing commitment to supporting Indonesia’s transition to sustainable and resilient energy systems. Authored by Lenny Hidayat and Cholisa Amalia from Greenwise Consulting, in collaboration with Michael Timothy Tasliman of Surveyor Indonesia, the paper explores strategic pathways to unlock the full potential of green financing in accelerating renewable energy development across the country.
The research highlights the current landscape of renewable energy in Indonesia, identifying both the momentum and the challenges that define the sector. Using a hybrid framework that combines the Impact Investment Matchmaking Model and PESTLE analysis, the study provides a multidimensional view of the green financing ecosystem—from policy dynamics and investment barriers to social, technological, and environmental factors.
Among the key insights presented is the urgent need for stable pricing mechanisms, an active and transparent carbon market, and legal reforms that provide long-term certainty for private investors. The paper also underscores Indonesia’s growing potential to attract impact investment through blended finance strategies, particularly as the country strengthens its commitment to decarbonization through initiatives like the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) and its nationally determined contributions under the Paris Agreement.
