Jakarta, May 28 2025–Greenwise Consulting continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable development by delivering technical training on the use of the Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction in Infrastructure (GERIN) Tool. This initiative is part of a strategic project carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works Republic of Indonesia (PU), the Indonesia-Australia Partnership for Infrastructure (KIAT), and the technical team from ARUP. Greenwise Consulting Partner, Lenny Hidayat, served as the lead trainer during the three-day training held on 26–28 May 2025 at the PUPR Competency Development Center Region III in Jakarta.
Building Capacity in GHG Emission Calculation for Infrastructure
The training aimed to strengthen the knowledge and technical capacity of participants from various directorates within the Ministry of Public Works including the Directorate General of Infrastructure Financing, Directorate General of Water Resources, Directorate General of Highways, Directorate General of Construction Development, and Directoral General of Human Settlements in calculating and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from infrastructure projects.
Delivered by Partner of Greenwise Consulting, Lenny Hidayat explained GHG emissions in Indonesia infrastructure projects, drivers for emissions reduction, and key enablers of infrastructure decarbonization. Participants also received hands-on training in using the GERIN Tool, a solution designed to support project evaluation and decision-making focused on emission reduction.
Promoting Data-Driven Policy and Planning
The GERIN Tool is designed to be applied from the early stages of a project, including feasibility studies and planning phases. It helps identify emission sources across the project life cycle and enables the development of measurable and effective mitigation strategies. The training not only provides guideline on tool usage, but also supports integration of the analysis results into policy processes, investment planning, and GHG reporting at both national and local levels but also supports integration of the analysis results into policy processes, investment planning, and GHG reporting at both national and local levels.
A participant from the Directorate General of Human Settlements remarked, “This training is extremely valuable, especially for those of us directly involved in infrastructure projects. We hope this tool can reach senior leader and policymakers so its implementation can be expanded and help streamline GHG emission evaluations more systematically.”
